In elderhood, the health care system may focus on extending a patient’s life, with an over-reliance on machines and procedures, instead of caring holistically for the person. Former CEO of Mercy Healthcare and author of Journey’s End Michael Connelly discusses that dying at home, peacefully, and surrounded by family can be almost impossible in our world–and how the fear of death can be a major contributor. He shares it may be more important to understand your life rather than to extend it.
